A Nugget of Never Knew

On the northeast corner of Carthay Circle is a statue of Walt and Mickey. Mickey is carrying a suitcase and standing on Walt’s travel trunk. On the back of Mickey’s suitcase is a luggage tag with a number: 111828, which happens to be the “birthdate” of Mickey as it was his first public appearance in “Steamboat Willie,” November 18, 1928. On the back of Walt’s travel trunk is a luggage tag with the number 12501, which is Walt’s birthday: December 5, 1901.
